Q: Can I use these documents and forms on my type of computer?
A: Yes - All FitForms documents and forms come in various formats that will work on Windows or Macintosh computers in just about any word processing program currently available, including Microsoft Word, AppleWorks, WordPerfect, and many others. Q: Do I have to create an account to download my documents and forms?
A: No - FitForms does not require an account to be set up in order to download documents and forms. While you can visit FitForms.com (the website) without registering or providing any personal information, you will need to provide some basic information if you want to make a purchase. The personal information requested is necessary to process your order and will not be shared with any other party. Customer order information, i.e. bill-to and credit card information, is used only to process your order and is not stored on our site.
Q: How do I find different documents and forms on the website?
A: On the home page, click on the category “Documents and Forms” at the top of the page and you will be taken to a main documents and forms page. This page displays a list of documents and forms available along with a search the library feature. Click on the type of document you are interested in and you will be taken to a specific page describing the document in detail. To see a partial view of the document or form that you have selected, click on the "Click Here to Preview" at the end of the document description. If it is the document you want, click on the "Add to Cart" button on the right side of the screen. Proceed through the checkout steps and you will then be able to download the documents right to your computer, no waiting!
Q: How do I download the documents and forms that I purchased?
A: As soon as your payment is processed, which generally happens within seconds, you will be taken to a "Thank You" page that contains the download link(s) for the documents and forms that you ordered as well as simplified instructions and a receipt. The download links will allow you to download the files containing the documents and forms you ordered right to your computer. When you click on the link, a little "file download" window will pop open and you will be given the option to "Open" or "Save" the file that is going to be downloaded. Select "Save" to save the file to your computer. When you select "Save," another window will open, allowing you to decide where to save the document file you will be downloading. Select the location you want the file saved to. Most people store their documents, forms, and photographs in "My Documents" or on their Desktop. Once the file has been saved, you can go to that location and start using it right away.
Q: Where did my download get saved on my computer?
A: Where the file downloaded on your computer depends on where your browser was set to store it. Most computers store and save files to "My Documents" or to the Desktop. If you're not familiar with where your browser downloads your files on your computer, we suggest saving them to your Desktop as this will be the easiest place for you to find them. If you cannot find your download, you can download it again by copying and pasting the links in the confirmation email we sent you to the URL/address bar on your browser. Q: What formats are the documents and forms available in?
A: The documents and forms are available in Microsoft Word format (.doc), Microsoft Excel format (.xls), and Adobe Acrobat format (.pdf). Some of our forms are also available in Rich Text (.rtf) format.
The Microsoft Word (.doc) format opens on PCs with Windows and either Microsoft Word or Word Pad. On Mac, you will need Microsoft Word for Mac or AppleWorks to open this type of file. Text Edit on Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) can also open these files. The benefit of using these Microsoft Word files is that you may open the form and edit it on your computer.
The Microsoft Excel (.xls) format opens on PCs and Macs that are running the Microsoft Excel program.
The Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format works on both PCs and Macs. You need the free Acrobat Reader software to view these files (or the Preview Application included in Mac OS X). The benefit of Acrobat (.pdf) files is that they look and print identically on all computers. However, our Acrobat files are not editable. You may only print them unless you have a full version of Adobe Acrobat.
Rich Text Format (.rtf) is a simple text format that supports simple effects such as bold type. This format will open on any PC or Mac, but is more difficult to format.
Q: Why won't the document or form open?
A: One of two things is wrong. First, you must determine the type of the file you are opening. Go to the location of the file and right click on the file. On the pop-up menu that appears, select "Properties." Under the "General" tab, check what is written under "type of file." If it says "Adobe Acrobat Document" or "Microsoft Word Document," then it is opening as gibberish because it is opening in the wrong program. Adobe files must be opened with Adobe Reader or Acrobat. If you do not have Adobe Reader, you can download a free copy at www.adobe.com. Microsoft Word documents must be opened in Microsoft Word. To open the file in the appropriate program, first open that program. From the "file" menu select "open" and then browse to find the file you are trying to open. If you double-click on an Adobe form (.pdf file) and nothing happens, you most likely do not have Adobe Reader installed.
Q: Can I edit these the documents and forms?
A: Yes - Once purchased, most if not all, FitForms documents and forms are yours to edit and use for years to come. Use them as many times as you like. There are various formats that will work with your specific computer type (Mac or PC) and just about any word processing program. For instance, the HTML format will work in your web browser and transfer to any word processing program regardless of operating system.
